We started the Murphy Sisters Foundation as a result of the tragic deaths of Shauna and Meghan Murphy in October 2005. We promote the values and the spirits of Shauna and Meghan: individuals who are confident, competent and caring. Our goal at the Murphy Sisters Foundation is to make a positive difference in educating youth about safe driving principles. Our Latest Philanthropy - SaferidesA senior student, Michaela Duggan, who was a teamate of Shauna's on the gymnastic team came up with an idea called "saferides". There will be student volunteers on Weekends and holidays who will be provided with a cell phone to monitor calls from teens who feel they can't drive or their friend can't drive. This student will be responsible to pick the teen up and drive him/her home anonymously. The Murphy Sisters Foundation is paying for the phone and the service, as well as keychains with our logo on one side and the "saferides" number on the other side. These keychains will be distributed to the entire student body. |
